Gardening Grows the Spirit at Ellington Farmers Market

There’s something magical about putting your hands in the soil β€” the smell of fresh earth, the warmth of the sun, and the joy of watching something grow. 🌱

 

Join the Ellington Farmers Market on Saturday, May 16 from 9 AM to noon at Market Park for β€œGardening Grows the Spirit,” a celebration of all things green, growing, and good for the soul.

 

Browse a beautiful selection of locally grown flowers, herbs, fruits, and vegetable plants from local farmers and growers who know them best. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting started, you’ll find inspiration and plenty to bring home for your garden.

 

Need gardening advice? The UConn Extension Master Gardeners will be on-site sharing expert tips on soil health, planting, and what thrives best in Connecticut gardens.

 

Families are encouraged to bring the kids along for a free hands-on planting activity where children can create and take home their very own plant to nurture and grow. 🌼

Dr. Sue Nash Named New Superintendent of Schools

 

Ellington Public Schools has announced the appointment of Dr. Sue Nash as the district’s new Superintendent of Schools following a special Board of Education meeting held on May 11.

 

 Dr. Nash brings more than 25 years of experience in public education and currently serves as Superintendent of Killingly Public Schools. She previously served as a principal within Ellington Public Schools, making this appointment a meaningful return to the community. 🍎

 

Known for her leadership in strategic planning, instructional improvement, student mental health initiatives, and academic innovation, Dr. Nash was selected after an extensive search process led by Cooperative Educational Services (C.E.S.).

 

Board of Education Chair Kerry Socha praised Dr. Nash’s collaborative leadership style and commitment to educational excellence, while Dr. Nash shared her excitement about returning to a district she says has always held a special place in her heart.
