Ellington Fire Department Honors Members at Awards Banquet

The Ellington Fire Department recently held its annual awards banquet to recognize members for their service and dedication.

 

Several firefighters were honored for their achievements and years of service including Megan Turley who was named Firefighter of The Year.  Other honors included Rookie of the Year, and Officer of the Year.


The banquet also celebrated the department's accomplishments over the past year and highlighted the importance of teamwork and community involvement in providing fire protection services.

It was a night of appreciation and recognition for the hard work and commitment of Ellington's firefighters.

Boys and Girls Hoop In Quarterfinal Action This Week

🏀 Ellington Girls Advance to Division III Quarterfinals

The Ellington High School girls basketball team has advanced to the CIAC Division III quarterfinals after back-to-back tournament victories over Bridgeport Central (46–30) and Torrington (62–41). The No. 5 seeded Knights will now face No. 4 seed Seymour in the quarterfinal round on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Seymour Middle School.

 


🏀 Ellington Boys Continue Title Defense

The Ellington High School boys basketball team continued its defense of the CIAC Division III state championship with a 68–58 victory over Career Magnet in the second round of the state tournament. 

The top-seeded Knights have now advanced to the quarterfinals and will host No. 24 seed Amity on Friday at 6 p.m. at Ellington High School.

No Coast Taqueria Begins Serving Margaritas and Beer

Big news just in time for the warmer weather!

 

No Coast Taqueria has received a provisional restaurant liquor permit and plans to begin serving alcohol, including margaritas and beer. The new offering is expected to launch this month and marks an expansion of the restaurant’s dining experience.

 

Owners Beau and Rachel say the addition will complement the taqueria’s menu and provide another option for residents looking for a casual night out in town. No Coast is located at 12 Main Street in Ellington. More info here

Celebrate St. Patricks Day At The Ellington Senior Center

The Ellington Senior Center will host a festive St. Patrick’s celebration featuring music, food, and plenty of Irish spirit. Attendees can enjoy a lively afternoon with themed decorations, social time, and traditional St. Patrick’s Day treats.

 

The event is a fun way for local seniors to gather, celebrate the holiday, and enjoy time with friends in the community.

Vintage & Antique Market Vendor Applications Now Open

The Ellington Historical Society is now accepting vendor applications for its popular Annual Vintage and Antique Market. The event will take place on Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the historic grounds of the Nellie McKnight Museum at 70 Main Street in Ellington.

 

 The outdoor market will feature a variety of vendors offering antiques, vintage goods, collectibles, and unique finds for shoppers and collectors alike.

 

Vendor spaces are 20' x 20' outdoor plots with a $40 registration fee, and space is limited. The event coincides with the opening day of the nearby Ellington Farmers Market, drawing hundreds of visitors to the area. Interested vendors are encouraged to apply early to secure a spot. More Info Here

It's Baack!

After a year off, the Ellington Fire Department Carnival is returning this fall. The three-day event at Tedford Memorial Park will run from Sept 10-12.

 

Highlights will include all of the old favorites; carnival rides, games, food vendors, the vehicle raffle, and the popular firefighters parade. Organizers say they’re excited to bring the tradition back for the community’s 98th year.More Info Here

 

 

Ellington Recreation Summer Camp Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for the Ellington Recreation Department’s popular summer camp programs. Camps are available for children from Pre-K (Little Knights) through middle school (Adventure Awaits) and offer some of the most affordable rates in the region.

 

 Campers can enjoy a summer filled with games, activities, and special on-site entertainment.

 

Families will also appreciate that Little Knights and Summer Knights campers receive a free hot lunch each day.

⚽ Spring Break Soccer Skills Camp

Keep your soccer skills sharp during spring break with this high-energy indoor camp running April 13–17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Players will focus on footwork, ball control, and teamwork through skill-building drills and small-sided games. The $140 program is a great way for athletes to stay active and prepare for the outdoor season.Register

 


⚽ Futsal Street Soccer Pre-Season Clinic

This popular pre-season clinic returns to help young players prepare for the spring soccer season. Held at the Crystal Lake Elementary School gym, the program runs Thursdays through April 2 and is open to ages 7–12. Players will build confidence and improve touches, agility, and passing accuracy before their first team practices. Register

 


🏀 Future Knights Basketball Clinics

Learn from some of the best local players and coaches. The Future Knights Basketball Clinics take place Sundays (April 19, April 26, May 3, and May 10) at Ellington Middle School. Open to K–8 students, the clinic focuses on fundamentals, skill development, and building confidence in a positive environment. Register

 


🏃 Spring Youth Track & Field

The popular Spring Youth Track program runs April 22 through June 13 for athletes ages 7–13. Participants meet twice a week for structured practices and will have the opportunity to compete in two local track meets. At just $25, this program offers a fun and affordable way for kids to stay active. Register

 


🏒 Youth Dek Hockey League

Ellington’s first Youth Dek Hockey League is now accepting registrations. This shoes-only league (no skates required) will take place at the town’s newest outdoor facility. Players will be placed on teams, receive jerseys, and participate in weekly practices and games. Volunteer coaches are also needed for this inaugural season.
