Ellington native Frank Mozzicato has joined the Kansas City Royals Spring Training in Surprise, Arizona, being chosen as a non-roster invitee.

The former local standout and seventh overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft will compete alongside the club’s top prospects and major leaguers as camp opens. Mozzicato will look to build on his recent development and is hoping to make a strong impression on the Royals’ coaching staff this spring. For local fans, it’s another exciting step forward as he continues working toward his Major League debut.

As a lead in to Women’s History Month which begins in March, the Town of Ellington is highlighting the women whose leadership and dedication make a lasting impact on our community. And few have shaped Ellington quite like Sue Phillips at Hall Memorial Library.

Since joining the Library in 1987, Sue has helped guide it through decades of growth and transformation. With a Master’s in Library Science, she led the transition into the digital age — introducing automated circulation, online catalogs, and shared databases through Bibliomation — while also overseeing a major expansion of the facility. Through it all, she has remained committed to preserving the Library’s welcoming, people-first mission.

Her service extends far beyond the Library walls, with volunteer leadership in Scouting America, local boards and organizations, and even international library initiatives in Kenya. Through decades of change — including the challenges of a global pandemic — Sue’s leadership, compassion, and steady dedication have left a lasting mark on Ellington.

The Ellington Winter Farmers Market wraps up its seasonal run this Saturday at Ellington High School. It’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on fresh local produce, homemade baked goods, specialty foods, and artisan products before spring arrives.

Whether you’re planning meals for the week or just looking for a cozy Saturday morning outing, this community favorite is a great way to support local vendors and connect with neighbors.

Get ready, Ellington! The Ellington Penguin Plunge returns to Crystal Lake on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Hosted by the Ellington Police Officers and Connecticut State Police – Ellington Resident Trooper’s Office, this fun and fearless community event supports an incredible cause.

Get ready for a new season of fun and teamwork with the Ellington Parks & Recreation youth Dek-Hockey League! This spring, kids ages 7–10 can join a co-ed league that’s all about friendly competition and skill-building—no skates required! 

Players will be placed on teams, receive jerseys, and enjoy weekly practices and games at the new outdoor Jacob's Arena at Robert Tedford Memorial Park. It’s a great way for young athletes to stay active, make friends, and learn the game in a supportive community environment.
